Located approx. 3 miles south east of Dunfermline this royal burgh lies on the shores of the Firth of Forth, with lovely views across to the sothern side. The town has a long and illustrious history, starting with the roman encampment of AD 78. The original royal charter was granted by King William the Lion in 1165. Increasing trade to the burgh and bringing prosperity. In the 19th century it was coal-mining that provided the mainstay of the town, with later, paper making, ship building and ship breaking featured in the towns growth.
