On the southern suburbs of Edinburgh just outside the circumference of the Edinburgh By-pass A720. Hillend lies at the eastern end of the Pentland hills on the Edinburgh to Peebles A703 road and is noted for its fine golf course and for the Hillend Skislope - an artificial skiing resource which has been operational since the 1960s.
