Elie's harbour was built in the 16th century and is now one of a handful of harbours that are run by a private company for the people of the area. You can see many small craft and yachts still using the harbour today.
When walking along the sandy beach at Elie you may come across a Carboniferous igneous rock, otherwise known as an Elie Ruby, which are small semi-precious stones.
