In 1535 the famous nine hour long play by Sir David Lindsay was performed here. This remarkable drama "Ane satyre of the Three Estates" was an attack on the church of the day. The site is now a school, part of which was built as a theatre by French prisoners of war during the Napoleonic Warsof 1793-1816.
To the south sits the tower of Scotstarvit dating from 1579 and the mansion house of Hill of Tarvit is nearby. Located on the A91, 10 miles west of St. Andrews. The town today welcomes visitors with a friendly face and a selection of local shops and bars etc.... < more >
