Auchindoun or Auchindown lies just off the A941 3 miles south of Dufftown in Banffshire. The ruins of the 3 storie Auchindown Castle date back to about the 11 century and were associated with the Ogilvie and Gordon families. Not really of much historical worth, it was last inhabited about 250 years ago and otherwise Queen Victora and her entourage once picnicked opposite it.... < more >
