Today, Dundee, the largest city in the county has split away from the rest of Angus as far as Political local authority boundaries are concerned but within YesScotland it is still part of the County of Angus.
Surprisingly, the old capital of Angus was not Dundee but Forfar (the county was one known as Forfarshire). To the east is the North Sea and to the west, the Grampian Mountains and many glens offering superb walking and natural history treks. Many towns of interest apart from Forfar and Dundee, include Kirriemuir (memories here of JM Barrie, author of Peter Pan); Glamis, with Glamis Castle which is open to the public (see places of interest sections of YesScotland); Arbroath, once a famous fishing port; Montrose; Brechin.
