This small Scots Burgh lies at the junction of the Rivers Tieth and Lemy on the edge of the Trossachs.
It is a popular holiday destination and base for touring the Trossachs and Loch Katrine to the west.
It was laid out in the 18th century with its focal point the well proportioned Ancaster Square in front of the Church of St. Kessog. The saint, a missionary from Ireland preached beside the Teith more than 15 centuries ago.
