If you like different cuisines then Glasgow is a pretty
good place to find yourself. Recently voted the Italian capital of Britain,
Glasgow boasts more Italian restaurants per square mile than any other
city in the UK.
We do have a lot of Italian restaurants, most are very
good, but we are not just limited to Italian cuisine, we have a rich
diversity of eating establishments in Glasgow.
Whether you want sushi or a hot curry Glasgow can provide
for you.
We have compiled an ever-growing list of reviews of
places we have eaten, and have given our thoughts on them. Please don’t
hesitate to contact us with your thoughts or experiences or log into
our forum and leave them for others to read.
Ichiban Noodle Café
Specialising in Sushi, and noodle dishes, Ichiban has
two places to choose from to eat. You can dine in the city centre in
their place on Queen Street, or chose the slightly bigger place on Dumbarton
Road, closer to the ever-desirable West End. Quiet, clean and friendly
Ichiban offers a wonderful experience and a real treat to your taste
buds. Whether you like Sushi, Bento Boxes or even Soup ichiban is a
definite must! Ichiban is not the kind of place that you expect to wait,
at the same time it’s not the kind of place you can have a 3 hour meal.
Food is served quickly and people leave quite quickly after they have
eaten as is the style of this kind of food/ noodle bar. You are not
pressured into leaving however and the staff are very friendly.
Cafe Andaluz
Traditional Spanish Tapas restaurant just off Byers
Road in the West End, Café Andaluz is defiantly worth a visit. Recommend
you book first as its VERY busy!! There are loads of dishes on this
menu, and from time to time it does change with the old favourites remaining.
There will be something in there to tempt most. From fresh calamari
to lamb and an extensive vegetarian section you will not be disappointed.
All you must do is try to pronounce the dishes! Thankfully the waiting
staff are very patient.
Recently opened a city centre restaurant too on St
Vincent Street.
Thai Siam
Out of the centre the Thai Siam on Argyll Street offer
authentic Thai food and a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. From
salads, to curry’s you can have a very enjoyable meal here, and should
you find yourself with a bit of a cold can I recommend one of the soups,
your stuffy nose won’t last long!
Waxy O’Connor’s
On West George Street next to The Carlton George Hotel,
Waxy O’Connor’s covers 3 levels with a maze of staircases etc, providing
6 unique bars. Private functions can be catered for or you can simply
go in and have a nice meal in a relaxed bar atmosphere. Typical yet
exceptionally well made bar food, ranging from Bruschetta to Oysters
with an excellent wine menu a trip to Waxy’s will be well worth it.
Dahkin & Dhabba
Sister restaurants in the Candleriggs part of Glasgow,
these 2 Indian Restaurants offer authentic Indian Cuisine with different
menus. Dahkin covers cuisine from the South of India, while Dhabba offers
food from the North of the country. We recommend you reserve a table
at either of these very busy restaurants to avoid disappointment. You
can have a spicy and full of flavour curry here or if your taste buds
don’t adapt to the hot and spicy there is plenty on the menu to tempt
you.
Pulcinella
On Hope Street Pulcinella is one of the city’s finest
Italian restaurants on offer. You can sit in the restaurant and soak
up the atmosphere without being hustled to order or leave. You can sample
authentic Italian food and enjoy every minute of it.
Walkabout
Located on Renfield Street near to the Cineworld Cinema
and Buchanan Street Bus Station, Walkabout serves pub meals with a difference.
Bearing in mind it is a pub with an Australian theme, we are sure you
wont need to be told whats on the menu.. but we will anyway. Yes, Kangaroo
and Crocodile feature heavily amongst other lesser-known Australian
delicacies. The traditional "Burger and Pint" is significantly
featured at this establishment along with probably about 100 televisions
to cover the huge floor. One interesting point about this venue is that
they have taken the television theme to a whole new level by putting
them in the "dunnies" too! The bar at Walkabout serves many
exotic Aussie and Kiwi beers. Student Discount Available.
We will continue to update this page with more
reviews. |
