Located on the shores of Loch Ewe on a promontary opposite the offshore island of Ewe. Loch Ewe was on major importance during both World Wars of the 20th century. The Second World War also gave rise to the local re-naming of nearby Gruinard Isalnd as "Anthrax Island" in view of the experiments carried out there. The island is now safe to visit.... < more >
