Access is by way of the B845 from Benderloch or along the north shore of the loch from Connel.
There are Chambered Cairns and Burial Chambers in Achnacreemore and Achnacreebeag and then 5 miles east, Ardchattan Church (remains of) and Ardchattan Priory with its superb gardens which were first established in the 13th century being developed by the Monks of the Priory.
The existing layout was established in Victorian times and both the gardens and ancient Chapel are under the protection of Historic Scotland. The old priory is now a private house and should be respected as such, please!
The gardens are famous for their Hoheria lyallii, Cornus kousa, Eucryphia glutinosa, roses and philadelphus.
