Glen Teviot Country House Hotel, Roxburghshire Scotland has a vast selection of accommodation - with some of the finest hotels in the UK; Gleneagles, Turnberry, Skibo Castle, Inverlochy Castle, Cameron House, One Devonshire Gardens and many more. Some are small country Inns, some are historic castles; many are family run whilst others are run by multi-national organisations known the world over for their quality. Then there are the small local hotels and inns dating back to the days of coaches and horses and others that used to be sporting lodges. The choice is endless and YesScotland tries to give you as wide a spectrum as possible.

Within this spectrum, Scotland has, without doubt, a quality to match anything in the World - but if quality is an issue with you, you need look no further than an establishment's "provenance" - its accolades. There are a range you can look for.

The most common is the VisitScotland (Scottish Tourist Board) Quality Assurance scheme which tells you the type of accommodation being offered ( Hotel, Small Hotel, Inn, Guest House B&B etc) and the star rating that their inspectors have given it, 1 being low and 5 being highest.

Secondly there are the motoring organisations such as the RAC and AA which are also star based in the same manner as VisitScotland. Here, look for Diningroom Awards (RAC) and Rosettes (AA) for the standard of the cuisine. 2 or 3 AA rosettes are high accolades.

Thirdly, there are the Michelin ratings which are highly coveted the World over! If you are looking at that level of service and cuisine then Michelin is up there with the best. Then the various proprietory award schemes such as Best Hotels etc, Ashley Courtenay, Les Routiers etc which all give an indication of the standard that any given hotel might have as a norm.

Fourthly, there are also a large number of web sites giving their own recommendations. Be careful of those being kind to establishments just because they have bought into the site! Look for sites with integrity, like YesScotland.com!

Finally, there are also a number of "Consortia" who only accept as members, establishments that meet their own strict standards. Scotland's Best is a fine example.

Although we have highlighted "Hotels" on the front page, we also have thousands of B&B establishments, Guest Houses and Inns to choose from. Just use or search facilities to find some options in the areas of your choice.

YesScotland will be highlighting special offers on the front page on a rolling programme and if you are interested in receiving email newsletters containing these Special Offers, click on the "Newsletter Sign-up" box on the home page.
