Shopping

Scotland has many places for some “shop-till-you-drop” style shopping and without doubt Glasgow and Edinburgh lead the way. Of course Edinburgh has Scotland’s only Harvey Nicks!

If your interest draws you to woollen and cashmere then the borders is where you should head for, in particular Hawick, Jedburgh, Melrose, Galashiels and Peebles. However, woollen mills can be found throughout the country – The Edinburgh Woollen Mill Company has a number of outlets throughout Scotland.

If crystal glassware interests you then you really should visit Caithness Glass in Perthshire and of course Edinburgh Crystal near Dalkeith.

High street chains can be found in the major cities & towns of Scotland and of course there are the outlet villages as well; notably Gretna Gateway Outlet Village, MacArthur Glen (Livingston), Braehead Shopping Centre and the newly opened Glasgow Fort.

Slaters in Glasgow is famous for gents’ outfitting and Jenners in Edinburgh’s Princes Street is famous for, well, everything!

Rural Scotland has been criticised for not having enough for visitors to buy – that may well be the case but it does make seeking good places for shopping exciting.

All in all Scotland has many good shopping areas. Edinburgh and Glasgow are certainly not to be missed if shopping is your thing!!
