Activities
The development of activity and leisure products is a fast growing industry in Scotland. Hunting, shooting and fishing used to be the mainstay of outdoor activities in Scotland but not any more. Deer stalking and shooting is still plentiful but hunting with hounds is now outlawed. Fishing has declined in certain areas but is still superb in many of our rivers like the Spey, Dee, Don, North and South Esk, Tay, Tweed and its tributaries.
Scotland is good at using its natural assets of mountains, hills, rivers and lochs for active pursuits. The range of activities is vast but come prepared for our changeable weather and for midges which can bother some more than others. You can also ask your accommodation providers for information on activities – many receive special rates for their guests and quite often they can advise on the best providers in the area – they will also help with packed lunches and perhaps late dinners or early breakfasts for you.
Finally, it is often important for operators to know in advance or your past experience in any particular activity – do tell the truth! You will enjoy the experience better and be less of a problem to fellow colleagues if you do so. Activities? There are plenty out there, enjoy yourselves! Use the search facilities below to find the activity of your choice.
