Holiday Ideas - Falls of Bruar & Queen's View

yesscotland - says:

The Falls of Bruar are just off the A9 to Inverness. About 8 miles from Pitlochry this walk sits behind The House of Bruar ( a well known Country store). The walk up through the woodland and to the various parts of the falls is about 2 miles and gives you many opportunities on the way to stop off and enjoy the spectacular scenery and photographic opportunities.

Burns mentioned the falls in some of his poetry often complaining at the lack of tree’s within the area. Now many years later and as Perthshire is known as ‘Big Tree Country’ I am sure Burns would no longer complain. The Falls of Bruar are crystal clear as they flow over rocks mainly and are well worth the walk to investigate.

Not far from Bruar you can also overlook the scene at the ‘Queen’s View’. Overlooking Schiehallion (one of the highest hills in the area) and looking down the river towards Tummel Bridge and Kinloch Rannoch. Named after Queen Victoria, the Queen’s view was a favourite place of the 19th centaury monarch.

From the view point, now maintained by the Forestry Commission you can see why this would be a favourite. Wonderful views and photo opportunities are in abundance here and well worth a visit.
